How to build trust with your email list

Trust! One of the main reasons why ANYONE buys from you.
Think back to a time when you have received a DM that skipped right past any attempt to build a relationship.
Or when you get countless emails from someone that is just won't stop selling to you.
What is missing? Connection. Relationship. Trust!
For your email list, the key to maintaining engaged contacts is by building trust with them.
"How do I build trust?" you might ask.
Here are 3 key areas to focus on to build trust and maintain engagement.
The strength of email marketing lies in the ability to segment. To direct the right message to the right person.
Targeting the right people with the most relevant message is the best way to boost engagement.
You want to make your contacts feel like you really KNOW them. Like you have been paying attention to their needs.
How do you segment your list? The possibilities with tags are endless, but here are a few of my favorites:
Use tags to identify how they got on your email list (i.e. freebies, masterclasses, etc.).
Use past purchase behavior to send them messages based on relevant materials.
Use tags to identify engagement levels. How often do they open your emails and click-through?
What tier of your content pillars are they consuming the most from?
Don’t let FOMO creep in
If I had a dollar for every time I have had to talk someone out of sending to their ENTIRE list because they were afraid of not hitting their goals...
Oh, lady - I would be livin'.
Remember, every time you send an irrelevant message to someone on your list - you lose their trust.
Nurturing contacts takes time. Allowing your contacts to go through their customer journey is so important.
Now, I'm sure you are thinking - "but I don't nurture my contacts and I don't have my customer journey set up."
That's okay, for now. Add that to your priority list - but you can still avoid the FOMO cycle.
Try this: Each time you send a promotional or sales email out - pay attention to who clicks and doesn't buy. Target your follow up to them. Use tags to identify them for future related promos.

The number one way to drop your engagement is "just" to send.
Yes - sending 4x month is ideal, but the fastest way to kill a happy list is to send low-quality content.
